The TC is currently in implementation fase. During this fase we will take everything we have created in the planning stage, and implement it into the game. After this fase, the first testing will commence.

The fifth Dev Journal talks about the overall campaign, the companions and how everything is coming together.

This is the first one of new, longer developer journals. Be sure to check it out!

Scorgar's Blog - By Sicar Eneco

Though I'm looking to merge both sites together, the place for updates on The Otherside Chronicles is still my blog. Although I'm currently somewhat occupied with my Infinity:TQFE's corporation Axis Inc., I'll try to keep you updated on how the progress goes. However, I currently wait for the expansion before I can begin the 'real' modding, as it's supposed to contain quite some resources I can use. I'm also looking more into .haks, VFX, tiles, etc., which seem to open some abilities to add interesting stuff. Some random ones that jump to mind:

Readable Books
Universal Companion Database
Item Placeables
Sorceress Ashura's VFX Pack V4.2

Introduction Act finished - By Sicar Eneco

Bonjorno amigos, Sic here. The Introduction Act of the Otherside Chronicles is now fully completed. And is being tested one last time as we speak, to make sure everything works. No problems are expected.

On site news, the forum is currently still offline and a 'Bug Report' section has been added. The name of the new section says enough. The forum though, are currently left offline. As I currently have no need for it.

Edit: The Introduction Act is now available at the Gallery Section.

Update - By Sicar Eneco

A little update on what's going on: The first alpha version of the first act is currently being tested, including the majority of the mainquest and a few sidequests. If this test turns out rather positive (no gamebreaking bugs), it won't be very long anymore before I can release the first act.

In other news, I'm trying something new with the site. I'm not sure when or if it'll work out, but it should make the site more functional and active.

As always, stay tuned.

Development Journal #5 - By Sicar Eneco

The fifth development journal, and first of the 'new' journals is posted at my blog. This is the first one of new, longer developer journals. Be sure to check it out!

Blog & New Dev Journals - By Sicar Eneco

Finally, after some searching I finally have my own blog. A few years after the others, obviously. Because nobody actually cares about my daily adventures, I will mostly use the blog for a more organized Dev Journal. A link and a summary of it can still be found in the dev journal section of the forums.

Now that all that is arranged, you can expect a new dev journal tomorrow. The new dev journals will be longer than previous ones. In the first new issue, I'll be talking about the overall campaign, the companions and how everything is coming together.

As always, stay tuned.

Keeping up to date - By Sicar Eneco

Hello again. What follows is an effort to keep you all a little up to date to what's actually happening around here.
First off, A big thanks to the NWN Podcast, they are doing a great job with their weekly podcasts and have featured our mod in the latest (#12) episode. Also, the Thieves Guild site seems to be exploding with members and info so be sure to check it out as well.

Now for a little update on the mod progress: The introduction act is coming together, but quest implementation is in my opinion a very slow and quite boring progress, so don't expect any flashy news soon. Check out the Development Journal as I'll post some more screenshots of finished areas soon.

I'm also thinking about changing the site a bit, or at least the forums. They're quite ok, for the moment, meaning they work. But I'd rather have the forum more implemented into the site itself. I'll keep you posted on how this develops.

Stay tuned!

New screens and some ranting - By Sicar Eneco

Happy holidays! You may have noticed that the news section got a little quiet. Or maybe you didn't. Anyway, that doesn't really matter. What matters is that I've uploaded a few new screenies (3) and that the Chronicles are shaping up. There's still tons of work to do on the first act, like implementing the quests and dialogue but the basics of most of the areas are done. Some need some more textures and some should need some more vegetation, although this currently eats to much framerates to completly do right in some areas.

I'm also thinking of giving the site a little New Year update, but you'll notice that when and if it comes. That being said, I'd like to note that the 'Development Status' bar is incorrect and apparently some of the Game Info items miss some info.

Also, in case somebody has missed the memo: I'm releasing the Chronicles in different Acts now, rather than waiting until I've finished the whole friggin' campaign. To quote myself:

"Since it's going to take me quite a while to finish the whole campaign (and various other reasons, like the community maybe wanting to see some other design choices) I'm splitting it up in different acts, or chapters. This way people will already be able to experience the world a bit (hopefully) in the first quarter of 2007 and I'll be able to adjust my campaign to the wishes and death threats."

The first act will contain the whole kingdom of Alauria and a part (I'm thinking 50%) of the Frozen Lands/Giant's Pass. *pant* I need to stop making long posts.

One last thing, my statistics show that the site gets about 550 unique IP's/month. People from all over the world are visiting this (USA, UK, Belgium, Germany, France, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Italy, Australia, Netherlands, and I forgot a few). Do me a favor and register an account at the forums. It takes about a minute to fill in everything and most fields aren't even required. It would give me a way better idea of the community and you'll be tempted to drop in a little comment here and there. The forums are heavily moderated for flaming and spamming and all constructive (both positive and negative, I need honest feedback) comments are welcome. Newcomers to forums will be helped and I don't mind explaining everything a few times. Don't worry about doing something wrong, because it can't go wrong. Believe me.

Yes, I'm done ranting. For now, mwhaha. Happy Holidays!

A sneaky peek - By Sicar Eneco

At the forums, you can now find a new sticky (Development Journal section) called Sneak Peek. Name sais it all I guess, I'll post a lill about the current things in development, complete with mini-screens and info. Eventually you can get a clear view of how far in development we are.

Clicky

Also, if anybody is interested, I'm still looking for area-builders. Tons of experience is not required but would obviously be nice, I'd be satisfied if you can put the basics to use. I don't really give deadlines, etc. as I'm doing this simply as my hobby. So if interested, don't be shy to ask!

And as always, stay tuned!

First alpha screenshots - By Sicar Eneco

As you can see on the left side of the page, I've uploaded the three first screenshots of Otherside in the Gallery. The areas featured are all in the starting town Limen, in the North-East part of Alauria. Everything looks nice and peacefull, doesn't it. Well, at least for now...

More screens will follow soon enough. Stay tuned!

It's coming... - By Sicar Eneco

Whoo! Finally a week off. Exactly the same week NWN2 is coming out. I've been reading a few (p)reviews around the internet and some magazines. Apparently the game plays and looks pretty good, with the exception of some bugs. I'm sure those will be fixed soon after release, though. I can't wait to start modding again.

All joy and happiness aside: I'll try to update the site a bit more regulary, now that I'm actually working on the TC. You'll also probably notice the few extra banners at the right side of the site. Be sure to visit and bookmark them, as they might just contain the information you'll need once you'll either go build your own modules or start your search for latest info about them.

Official word on release date - By Sicar Eneco

With the relaunch of the NWN Vault an official release date has been confirmed by both Atari and Obsidian. Neverwinter Nights 2 will be released on Halloween, October 31st, 2006.

A quick look at some of the current bugs :

* Shapeshifting causing characters to displace to different map locations and/or under the walkmesh.
* Attack sequence becoming jacked, resulting in a character executing six attacks with one swing.
* Auto-saves causing de-synchs in release .exes.

The facts, all you need to know - By Sicar Eneco

Interested in the Chronicles but not sure what to expect? Wondering what exactly is in and what not?

The various changes we've been through haven't made it any easier to get the exact and correct info. The solution? One thread containing all the facts you need to know.

Updated site info - By Sicar Eneco

In this update, I've added some new information to the Game Info section:
Both some general info and an explanation of the title has been added to the FAQ.

And, as you probably already noticed, the whole site has a little different look. Comments are welcome in the 'Suggestions' forum. Hope you like it!

Slight delay for Neverwinter Nights 2 - By Sicar Eneco

No NWN 2 until October. Yay. As long as it stays with this one small delay, I guess I can live with it. As Atari explains it: "This extra time is invaluable as it allows fine tuning and polishing of both the single and multiplayer experiences."

Not much new from the mod-related front: I've finished the more detailed maps from the Alauria kingdom, Avadur and a large part of the Frozen Lands. I'm also busy brainstorming how the guilds will work now that we've jumped over from Oblivion to Neverwinter Nights and gathering some concepts for the guildquests.

New Development Journal - By Sicar Eneco

Woah, finally back internet. Sorry for the little delay.

Anyway, I've stopped focussing on sidequests for the moment since we now have about 30 of these now, not including the main quest or any of the guildquests. All way more interesting then the regular 'go there, kill x of these and return'. I've already gave a small teaser in one of the previous Dev Journals, so you can expect most of the quests to be quite interesting. We have disappearances, historians looking for old documents in shipwrecks, mysterious murders, raids on demon clans, etc.

On to Neverwinter Nights 2 - By Sicar Eneco

I've been looking into Neverwinter Nights 2 and been comparing their new toolkit with Oblivion's CS. With the information I know and past experience with the Aurora Toolkit, I think it's fair to say that Obsidian's new toolkit will provide a more user-friendly environment and, to my suprise actually, a more powerfull editing possibility. Now, as I've said on the game info page and in any introduction I've ever written, OS is basically a story that evolved moving from game engine to game engine. I thought it would finally be created on Oblivion's engine but alas, to these continuous bugs, crashes, limitations and Bethsoft not giving any patch support for their toolkit it seems that I've misplaced my trust with these folks.

Updated site info - By Sicar Eneco

New info concerns artifacts mentioned in Arrythian lore. Also (detailed) information about the various characters you'll come across in your travels as well as some more detailed information about the cultures living in the kingdoms.

Apart from that, you'll notice that this site is more readable then the former design. All info is more arranged as well. General game info, like info about the world, various characters or artifacts can all be found in the Game Info section together with the FAQ and some previously unreleased information. Various downloads will be accessible via the Gallery section including screenshots, wallpapers and the actual mod itself. The library and forums still serve the same purpose. Hope you like it!
